An elliptical has more moving joints than a treadmill: pedal arms, pivots, rollers or wheels, a crank and a flywheel, all turning on bearings and bushings. When one of them wears, you hear it on every stride. When the resistance system or console fails, the machine still moves but the workout is gone. We repair both kinds of fault on site, so you do not have to take a heavy machine apart and haul it anywhere.
We repair home and commercial ellipticals and cross-trainers from the brands we already service: Precor EFX and AMT, Life Fitness cross-trainers, NordicTrack FreeStride and Commercial ellipticals, ProForm, Sole, Matrix, True, Star Trac, Cybex and Bowflex. Front-drive, rear-drive and center-drive designs all wear in different places, and we know where to look on each.
We are a mobile service covering Duval, Nassau, St. Johns and Clay counties, from Jacksonville and the Beaches to Ponte Vedra, St. Johns, Orange Park, Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine. Every job starts with a free estimate, and hablamos español.
A squeak, click or clunk that repeats once per stride comes from a joint that is dry, loose or worn: pedal arm bushings, pivot bearings, ramp rollers or wheels, or the crank bearings. A dirty rail or ramp and loose frame bolts make similar noises. We find the joint that is making it, clean and tighten what can be saved, and replace the worn parts.
Resistance that is stuck, changes on its own, or feels like it disappears mid-stride. On home machines we test the resistance motor, its cable and the magnet assembly. On self-powered commercial cross-trainers we test the generator and resistance board. A worn or loose drive belt can slip and feel like lost resistance, so we check that too.
A console that will not power on, resets, shows an error or stops counting. We check the power supply or, on self-powered machines, the battery and generator, then the wiring up the mast and the console itself. Heart-rate grips and speed sensors that stop reading are part of the same check.
Pedal arms that wobble side to side, knock at the top of the stride, or feel loose underfoot. The cause is usually worn pivot bushings, a loose or worn crank arm connection, or a cracked pedal. We replace the bushings and hardware so the stride feels solid again.
On machines with an adjustable ramp, such as the Precor EFX CrossRamp, a lift motor that stalls, grinds or loses its position. We test the lift motor and its wiring and recalibrate the incline range.
A stride that catches, surges or feels rough usually points to a worn drive belt, a dry or failing flywheel bearing, or an idler that has lost tension. We inspect the drive system and replace the part that has worn.
Elliptical repair is part of our full diagnostic & repair service. Most stride noise starts with dry or dirty joints, so routine preventive maintenance every three to six months prevents a lot of these repairs. Noise that repeats once per stride usually comes from the moving joints: pedal arm bushings, pivot bearings, ramp rollers or wheels, or the crank bearings. Loose frame bolts and a dirty rail or ramp can sound the same. We find which joint is making the noise, clean and tighten what can be saved, and replace worn bushings, bearings or rollers.
Usually, yes. On most home ellipticals a small motor moves a magnet closer to or farther from the flywheel, so a failed motor, a broken cable or a lost calibration leaves the resistance stuck. On self-powered commercial cross-trainers the generator and resistance board are the usual suspects. A worn drive belt that slips can also feel like missing resistance. We test each part and fix the one that has failed.
Yes. We repair commercial ellipticals and cross-trainers from Precor, Life Fitness, Matrix, True, Star Trac and Cybex in gyms, apartment and HOA fitness rooms, hotels and offices across Duval, Nassau, St. Johns and Clay counties, and we offer preventive maintenance to keep them running.
Most commercial and mid-range home ellipticals are worth repairing, because the frame and flywheel last much longer than the bearings, belts and electronics that wear out. On an entry-level machine with a failed console or frame damage, a new machine can make more sense. Every job starts with a free estimate, and we tell you honestly which side your machine is on.
